i get wat u mean about the necessity for that alien quality. its present in wat u do. cant say i've ever heard a song quite like that. lots of intrigue to be found
Understood.. I have been 'working backward' so to speak, with a new Roland GR-20 guitar synth- while the learning curve is not that steep, I am working on figuring out all the features and the best 'voices' for use with the hex-pickup I installed on my Strat. This has expanded my capabilities, and now I await inspiration...
referring to the octopi, would this relate to the mythos of Cthulu in any way? BTW, thanks for the advice, yes there are parts of my past that I hate which seem to be represented in this man I described to you. I can't help wondering, though, why some seem to see many more 'angles' of the mirrors than others, unless it relates to reincarnation and the development of the soul over lifetimes.
Then again, some days I wake up and realize I know almost next to nothing, compared to the vast expanse of the Universe and all the infinite wonders within...
Yes, you did know that I've heard this album before- in fact, it was the attendant background musick to my first 'initation' (pun intended). . .along with Revolution Number 9. . .
Regarding Ommadawn- this has also attended other sessions of non-ordinary states of reality. . . one of my very favorite Oldfield albums, in fact.
In one of Terrence McKenna's addresses he downplayed the importance of musick in his own personal experiences, but my experiences have taught me that in any seeking of heightened awareness, musick is in fact not only a catalyzing agent, but a facilitator as well. . . I've used it many times as a meditational process.
Most notable about anyone who has studied Crowley's life seriously is the adoption of the spelling of 'magic' as 'magick'- I started doing that myself after having read his Autohageography. Wonder if you have ever visited Boleskine, and/or know if the magickal Working he started there was ever dispelled since its interruption by Crowley's insistence on going to help Mathers out of his own difficulties.
I had done a pretty indepth study in the 80's into religion, philosophy, and magick/sorcery in an attempt to find the common thread that seemed to run through all of it. What I have come up with, thus far, is that all of it is interlinked in an indivisible unity, as in It's All One- (I know, too simplistic a statement, but time constrains me from getting into the indepth mechanics of it at this moment) I would like to continue our conversations, though. I find your viewpoints fascinating.
The thing that was little understood about the sentence 'Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law' was that it was not talking about doing whatever you please on a whim or on the spur of the moment. What Crowley meant by this was that one should do what is one's True Will, or, in other words, what one's True Path in life is... The Christians who denounced Crowley had very little inkling of his true genius. He was ahead of his time in many aspects, although the society of his day could not fathom his philosophy or accept his rebellion against the puritanical mores of his day.
I won't even pretend that I wasn't turned on by thee octopi in places eerie tentacles of tabla-like drumming twining around and through the spoken word and throbbing vocal cries. sufficient to say, you are one dark puppy. bliss & sacredness, the perfumed sounds of my backyard early in the morning when the mist is still wet and formless on the moist exposed earth and grass. La da da, power, hypnotic, something waits...
My friend, your "Temple ov the Octopi' is most exxx-cellent! Love the rhythms, dark chants & subdued vocals. Very evocative of things unknown & best left unseen. Long live the MYTHOS!
yes, thanks! wonderful to talk to you as well. i look forward to hearing your music when you get it converted. tell me: what are you going to do with this "flip cam" you love so much?
Yeh!! What a great page you have oh AlephNull. I love to read your words of wisdom, insight on matters mystical, musical or medieval. Peace and blessings! Risi
