We live and breathe music.

I've been working for a little time on a collaberation project, but coyly keeping things under wraps....but Oophoi recently mentioned the joint effort on his new MySpace page.....

The album is called 'Martian Chronicles' and is inspired by the book of the same title by Ray Bradbury. Currently we are swapping sounds/music and seeing how our explorations take us into the uncertain, twisting and parallel story lines of the book.

I read the book after many years before we started and found myself remembering some of the characters and storylines vividly. I especially like the one where the first Earthmen arrive and are treated by the Martians most distantly until they end up in what they realise is an insane asylum - and that the shapeshifting, telepathic martians have a known disease where martians believe they come from Earth.

I'm looking forward to seeing how it ends up.

It's very interesting to work on this - I'm trying to find the way between 'recording the book' and just using the book title for a springboard.....

As well as merging two different, if similar styles of music into the different worlds portrayed in the book.

This sounds like a great idea and one definitely worth exploring. After reading this post and sitting on the bus I found myself thinking of how I would synthesize the sound of the bee-guns the martians use! Good luck!

Oophoi was one of the artists I discovered quite quickly when I got back into listening to music, as well as Vidna Obmana, Steve Roach, mathias Grassow etc. I was collecting as many of his CDs as I could before I sent off 'Stellar Nurseries' to him (and other artists) for constructive feedback. He has been very supportive of my work and the collaberation is a real high point for me.
