Disturbed Earth

On The Eve..."The Rest Of Time" Steve Brand/Disturbed Earth

The tying of the three releases that Steve Brand and I did is so simple, they were all done in July/August 2008.

"Broken Gold" was from sign outside a pawn shop down the road a ways from where I was that offered money for "broken gold".
"Busy With Dreams" was Steve's title...it's the best!!!
"The Rest Of Time" says it all.

"The Rest Of Time" I feel, is a reflection, and at the same time, a knowing of how to wrap it up on this one...put that happy/sad/missing closure on all three releases, sprinkle the sandman dust and put them all to sleep. We both knew the short space of time given us, so we worked to produce this together.

For this particular album, our respective recording techniques/methods of living came into play again...I know I used guitar and pedal harmonium, I think Steve got his sounds from various tarpits, mounds, caves or whatever happened to be crawling around or bumping into things at the time.

Whatever they were, these recordings from Steve were pushing me to another place of processing/looking at things...and now I consider us both, prospectors, looking for things with a pick and shovel. And one day we'll get the money to buy a mule.

Many thanks to AtmoWoks for putting out this kinda music

Thanks, ECD. This disk is all about subtlety. Microchanges. Spaces. Dean made a real trilogy with this series and each episode has it's own character and nuances.

I'm so pleased that we've now got all 3 albums out there now. I have to say, Dean, JKN and Geoff made this such an easy, pleasant and dream-fulfilling sequence of events. I was a fan of Dean's work, so when he suggested in our very first phone conversation that we collaborate, I didn't hesitate for a moment. I Knew that our work would blend in a very interesting way and at a very deep level. I've collaborated with several artists, and along with my friend Jonathan, working with Dean was effortless. Later in the year (tentatively October) look for my particular twisted take on Dean's sounds, "The First Day Unnamed" (birth from the Dean's "rejects" from our 3-part collaboration and my own sound sources).

oops I forgot, Steve Brand did the photography and the cover design/layout for all three of the albums. The first one "Broken Gold" took me by surprise...apparently it is called "deer art". The second "Busy With Dreams" is a real stunner..geometric and to me, reminded me of a color version of the "Cabinet Of Dr.Caligari. "The Rest Of Time" is some sort of plant I think...I love how all three are so different, and soooooooo connected.

And again I deeply appreciate the way AtmoWorks is able to release these albums.

Thanx
Dean
