Well it only took 3 months - mainly due to wet weather and doing other things at the weekends - but got the flute finished and it worked. It's been a long while since I made stuff like that and my eyes are not as good as they were... scraping for ages with a scalpel to cut the main sound hole and numerous attempts to get wax in the right shape.... drilled 4 holes for tuning - not to any scale but seems to sound good together. I remember making similar items in the past in a relaxed manner - perhaps due to the practice of making them regularly but this time was punctuated by numerous expletives and sweaty palms...had to leave it lie for a week to pick up in a better mood.
It makes some very high pitched sounds and I decorated it with indian ink and some heron feathers - would have taken some pictures but as it was a gift for someone felt it best not too - hoping it will appear on some music in the future.
Collaberations going well, sounds bouncing back and forth so hope the projects will manifest completion sometime this year.
Not got very far with live stuff - I seem to find giving a project the attention I want to means can only have a couple actively on the go at a time. My imagination gets drawn into particular sound journies for each project and as one completes new ideas and directions are much easier to create - just wondering what other's experience of this is?
will pick up on solo projects again as the collaberations come to completion.
Need to spend more time on this site, just added some tracks to the player - but get around more to 'meet' people...
