LOW and thee Subterraneans(Your a Wonderful Person, but you got problems!)

So...I take this incredibly LONG bike ride yesterday..wind up in a local record store in another town.I am going to BUY a real CD! Yes...I am going to the store and getting a brand new copy of 24 bit..digitally remastered copy of LOW by Bowie...produced by ENO(which means heavy collaboration) It's on my list of all time favorites...yet I have not listened to or owned a copy of LOW in a really long time. I believe I talked earlier about being into this project/concept album exploration....2112 by RUSH...LOW by Bowie...I want to find another copy of OUTSIDE by him. I know I could order it anytime...yet I like shopping thru the Used CD section...and often just wait for things to serendiptiously show up. LOW has been the HIGH point of my week. The sheer wicked inventivness that takes the listener beyond Genre into a class of simply new and forward reaching music. I am now seeking "A WIZARD A TRUE STAR" by Todd Rungren... "RA" by Utopia..."INITIATION" by Todd Rungren,Roxy Music,King Crimson,The Velvet Undergroun,Lou Reed...yet what I am personally constructing is closer to LUSTMORD or Mortiss perhaps....yet perhaps it is taking that deep, underroot in life ...the great Yin Tao ...and being a channel for it's unearthed treasures and well springs of thought and creation. This exploration of the Underdark.....these Tunnels ov Set in DAATH....

SPEED OV LIFE,
Aleph Null

I just posted two vid's from LOW album. I always thought I remembered Eno was the producer...from the looks of the credits I've been mulling thru this evening....it seems Eno is on the roster of musicians...the "personnel". It was recorded at the Chateau d'H'erouville,France, and Hansa by the wall,Berlin,it was mixed at Hansa....produced by David Bowie and Tony Visconti. Perfect.Iggy Pop is also on Back up vocals. I've had it on repeat all weekend...just really digging into it....becomming part of it. It's incredibly enriching for me to spend time with music like this. It's much of what I did growing up...laying on the floor in front of my stereo...head betweeen two speakers,or a pair of headphones....disco ball on....lava lights a swirlin' and Twirlin'...looking like some psychedellic roller rink from the hidden dimensions....Yeah...I remember heading ABACAB by Genesis live on the readio one night like than...this supergroups in Concert program. Heard Live Bowie like that too. I believe I used to listen to The White Album by The Beatles and Lodger by Bowie back and forth. I got a head full of Everything with "The Healing" by Todd Rungren. This has been a joyful exploration along this particular curcuit of imprints and encoding.

Low slots in alongside Station to Station and Heroes. If you like those two, you'll be happy with Low. Of course - look for song samples before you buy it. The first side of Low is pop tunes - very quirky Bowie type pop tunes of course. Side 2 is instrumental. The reissue of it I have has bonus tracks included I think one of Bowie's absolutely best instrumental tracks ever - "All Saints" - which truly sounds timeless.

Read a bit about it here:

How far is it to bike to that CD shop from New Zealand? I have nine David Bowie albums but not "Low"! I better at least hear it once in my lifetime if it be that good.

Low is an all time favorite of mine. I have it on vinyl and cd both. Classic.

Outside I have - it's in the 'eh, ok' dept for me. Not all that great, but not bad enough to get rid of.

I would like to add that I have all good motivation in listening too the new artist here intensley as possible. I have more time on my hands than alot of people...less than others...yet the importance of what is happening here and NOW I do not want to forget either. I suppose I am going back to my roots and standards of creativity to give me some sort of frame work in which to analyze what I am reaching into. I would guess I am familiarizing myself with the spirit and craftiness of what I am seeking out in this ambient sea of callings. The is a particular spirit of inventiveness I seek in everything I will commune with.
