"Temporal Arc" by Interstitial
Originally released in 2001, "Temporal Arc" by Interstitial is a great album that blends drones and percussive elements in a fluid and natural way, resulting in an engaging collection of music that still sounds fresh and vital now almost ten years later. John Koch Northrup of Interstitial has brought together sounds and tones in a skillful mix that pays equal attention to all of the elements in the soundfield, giving the listener something n… Continue
We have just shared here at Atmoworks our latest piece called Sphinx. It is a dark, meditative deep ambient track inspired by the Great Sphinx of Giza. Hope you can give it a listen and enjoy it.
Peace and inspiration,
Doc & Lena Continue
This compilation has been put together to linearly construct 'sonic spaces' we inhabit, and the moods these sounds subject us to. The omnipresent nature of sound involves us in a continuous engagement with the objective world; 'in music' we connect to the subjective self and the sonic universe that surrounds us. It is via these two perceptions that these tracks have been woven together, using field recordings a… Continue
I made this video and tracked it to Steve Hillage's 'Healing Feeling' from the 1978 U.S. release of 'Aura'- not original music, I know, but what the hey, this is my first video release anywhere..… Continue

AtmoWorks is proud to offer the 2009 re-issue of Temporal Arc by Interstitial!
The creative voice of our very own John Koch-Northrup, Interstitial blurs the lines between ambient drone and IDM like few other electronic composers can. Temporal Arc is a sinuous journey through a ever-shiftin… Continue
Please indulge me on this one. I was quite a heavy rock fan when I was a younger feller.
This track contains some of the best solo playing I can remember.

Temporal Arc was originally released on the Red Antenna label in December 2001. Below are some descriptions and reviews from the original release. Thanks for reading!
Here's what I wrote about it back then:
Temporal Arc merges the processed pulse rhythms of Berlin and Detroit with atmospheric ambient and beatless minimalism. The title track encompasses all of these elements - drifting from dark atmospheric expansions into tightly compressed drums and back again. Some tracks use… Continue
Greetings to everyone of AtmoWorks....I trust everyone is enjoying their summer. I started the only IPTV Ambient Channel, Floating Worlds, on Joost over 2 years ago. I thought that Floating Worlds would attract ambient visual artists worldwide...Instead, I have discovered that ambient visual artists are few and far between, while the community of ambient sonic artists continues to expand.
I welcome collaboration with any visual artists who are interested in creating in the ambient medium. Would… Continue

Let's start with the "I'm leaving AtmoWorks" part.
John, Matt and I have co-owned the label since March 2008 and it's been a very exciting time for me. However, we've decided to part ways. John and Matt will continue to own and run AtmoWorks and I'll be stepping out of the day to day operation of the label.
I've met so many great people through AtmoWorks - fellow musicians, fellow listeners, friends. I'll still be around the community and will always look forward to talking to everyone… Continue
Some of you folks might think some of these blog entries are too esoteric, "woo-woo," or probably don't belong on the AtmoWorks blog, and you may be right. However, for me, the kind of music available here on AtmoWorks.com, exists to at least in part, to facilitate the momentous changes taking place today. Just sharing a few paragraphs from Barbara Marcinak's "Path to Empowerment." You can see evidence of this in the news of recent events in the US, Iran and the rest of the world.

I just wanted to share an idea that has been central for me for the last several years, moving from the ego to the heart. I didn't discover these writings/channelings until about 2-3 years ago, but upon really reading them, I discovered that I was, and am, in the midst of this process. I had some further insight into myself and why my interactions with the world and myself have changed since starting down this path. Basically, this shift in perspective constitutes a fundamental change in world v… Continue

We are living in exceptional times. Scientists tell us that we have 10 years to change the way we live, avert the depletion of natural resources and the catastrophic evolution of the Earth's climate.
The stakes are high for us and our children. Everyone should take part in the effort, and HOME has been conceived to take a message of mobilization out to every human being.
For this purpose, HOME needs to be free. A patron, the PPR Group, made this possible. EuropaCorp, the distributor, also pled… Continue
