I like this one Peter, it's on the right side of being relaxing (and interesting) whilst not being overly 'sweet'. It's great to hear your music being used for such an important thing. Pete

Profile Information

About Me:
i'm a U.K based bass guitarist, sound designer, producer and musician.
as well as my (now occasional) solo work, i'm also one half of stillEarth, (the other half being Dean Richards of Disturbed Earth)..
i'm a member of the musical collective 48 Cameras, who's main base is in Belgium, plus i'm in an "indie" band, from Cumbria, UK., called Soviet Dynamo, where i play slide and bowed guitar, and do all the production/mixing. and to anyone stumbling across this page who isn't familiar with my work (that'll be everyone, give or take a few), i don't use synthesisers to create my work, only bass and electric guitar, and the odd "other thing" (perhaps a piano here and there, too).

Best album(s) of all time?
In This World by Cindytalk. The Pearl by Brian Eno and Harold Budd. Symphony of Sorrowful Songs (Symphony No 3") by Henryk Gorecki.. i don't listen to much music at all.
Are you a musician? What instrument do you play? Type of music?
kind of. i dabble with a few things, none of them proficiently.

infinite pulse

..after some deliberation i've added the track "infinite pulse". this piece is one of 3 that i was asked to compose to accompany a home water birthing. the pieces i did were only written after consultations with the expectant mother (and father). the 3 pieces were played all day, throughout the labour, on rotation, and the baby, molly rose, was born peacefully, without tears or screams (from the mother or baby), without the need for intervention by the midwife or attending nurse, delivered by he… Continue

untitled

just for fun, i've uploaded a track i did today (05/08/2009), which was written for a friend of mine to put on their i-pod to accompany them whilst out jogging. of course they have many other tracks on the i-pod, not just this one, that would be insanity, obviously ;-) it's not my normal thing at all, and probably 7 and a half mins too long ;-) i had fun doing it though, and that's the main thing. i'll probably remove it in a day or so..
cheers
pj.

older

...i've posted 3 tracks, which i did back in february of 2008. 2 of which i don't really remember doing. they are all unfinished, rough mixes, warts and all :- "closure" features some vocal samples from the voice track Saskia Dommisse sent me for "not lost - forgotten". "after thought" is kind of the progenitor for the track "precognition", and a much more "ambient", or softer, less brutal mix of "do loop". there are other tracks which didn't make the cut for "is", or were being developed around… Continue

back in the day ;-)

- hmm.. i've posted a really old piece of mine - arcadia - recorded in 2000. it was at a time when i was doing very repetetive and long pieces (this is an 8 minute edit - the full thing runs to a mind-numbing (but that was the idea) 74 minutes.). it was primarily designed as a "sleep" piece, with the main repetitions of bog standard off-the-shelf bird song samples, and, yes, a couple of Synth sounds (wash my mouth out!) based around my own breathing and resting heart rate patterns - a formula i… Continue

a prayer for living beings

i've added A Prayer For Living Beings. it's a collaboration i did with a poet from estonia (eastern europe) called ellom, whom i "met" via my myspace page. it was recorded a few months ago. it's probably, along with the other poetry piece i did for Sounds In Bloom, the most pure ambient track i'd done in a long long time. Dean Richards recorded the tibetan bowl samples for me in florida, - hence the birds singing in the background - and i edited them down here in the uk .. hope a few of you here… Continue
