New Maps of Hyperspace

Here's a great transcript of a talk given by Terence McKenna. Really wish I could have seen and heard one of his talks. He was a great speaker. New Maps of Hyperspace by Terence McKenna A talk given at the invitation of Ruth and Arthur Young of the Berkeley Institute for the Study of Consciousness, 1984. (Included as written word because this edited transcription appears in print as part of his book The Archaic Revival—deoxy) In James Joyce's Ulysses, Stephen Dedalus tells us, "History is… Continue

TERENCE MCKENNA VS. THE BLACK HOLE

I read this interview with Terence McKenna this morning. I was thinking about him, after watching 'Meet the Robinsons' with my son earlier this morning. It's a funny kids Disney movie, but it's about time travel and stuff, so it just kinda morphed into Terence in my mind....-:) Anyway, him talking about eternal light ala William Blake, shining through plants and insects, was really moving, as he was facing his own inevitable death. Please read. Whether or not you like his stance and philosophy… Continue

The Pleasure of being William Shatner

Read this article this morning. Quite entertaining and wanted to share. LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- The SUV pulls to an abrupt stop on Ventura Boulevard in Studio City. In the middle of the westbound lane is a man in a loud shirt, his body coiled with energy, darting across traffic toward a strip mall. William Shatner sinks his teeth deep into life, reveling in acting -- and everything else. The driver jumps visibly, and not merely at the presence of a human being on the pavement. It's… Continue

The Anaesthetic of Familiarity

From RichardDawkins.net 1st chapter of 'Unweaving from the Rainbow'. Chapter 1: The Anaesthetic of Familiarity To live at all is miracle enough. - Mervyn Peake We are going to die, and that makes us the lucky ones. Most people are never going to die because they are never going to be born. The potential people who could have been here in my place but who will in fact never see the light of day outnumber the sand grains of Sahara. Certainly those unborn ghosts include greater poets than Kea… Continue

The Medusa's Head

I find world war II history quite fascinating. Trying to wrap my head around the events that happened in the early to middle 20th century, I've turned to books like "Morning of the Magician", which goes into the more psychological and spiritual aspects of World War II. It's fascinating how the blind idiot, Hitler, was able to twist Nietzsche and Crowley to satisfy his own internal lust for war and self importance. In one of my google/wikipedia trips (which I consider to be my studies) I came acr… Continue
