- About Me:
- Ivan Silva [Sha-Ma-Na-V] (date of birth: December 5, 1982) is an independent artist, collaborator, DJ, producer, remixer, sound engineer, & psychonaut from Chicago whose experiments with sound began at an early age. He grew up to embrace all forms of abstract art & was exposed to all kinds of music as a child (Aphex Twin, Autechre, Cabaret Voltaire, The Cure, Dead Can Dance, Delerium, Depeche Mode, The Doors, Doubting Thomas, Einstuerzende Neubauten, Front Line Assembly, Joy Division, Kraftwerk, Laibach, The Legendary Pink Dots, Ministry, New Order, Paco de Lucia, Pink Floyd, Recoil, Skinny Puppy, The Tear Garden, Throbbing Gristle, Tool, etc...) Starting with an electronic drum kit at age 6, he quickly grew an intense passion for electronic music. At age 11, he picked up his dad's Saxophone for a couple of years but ended up getting discouraged by his music teacher at the time. Then at the age of 13, he first heard the music of Download & Shpongle - 2 bands that would have an immense impact on his soul. By the age of 15, he had established himself as a DJ - spinning at several parties, lounges, & night clubs throughout the Chicago-land area. Now he strives for diversity & creates music that reflects this world inside/out, physically & spiritually. His knowledge of electronic music composition & technique is self-taught. Xochipillinavi Studios (founded in September of 2001) is where he summons the sounds of Shamanavi.
