i will have to check out that temple bell sound you spoke of.
did you have a good holiday?
i'm aiming at a large block of production time this weekend, if all goes well. hopefully i will be able to work on a new project, and try out some of the FM synthesis you told me about.
i'm trying to find some great new VST plugins or synths. any suggestions?
there was a great FM filter in Absynth i believe. i remember finding some nice bass tones with it.
i'm very excited about creating more sounds. there's something gorgeous about having a total sound that you created...
Waves is definitely a favorite of mine, for plugins. although i'm still on the lookout for some really great VSTs. i'm a bit of a collector of them.
i completely understand your comments on being pigeon-holed. i've been trying to find a niche, without having to stick to one strict style. people out there in music land tend to think you're only allowed one style and have a hard time adjusting to an artist that produces several sounds. it's odd, and honestly, a bit unfair.
i'm trying to head into a different direction with 'Plains' and 'Solitude and Memories'. i want more ambience, more thoughtfulness, and more emotion, specifically that "youthful solitude on a summer afternoon" kind of lonely emotion.
looking very much forward to your comments on the recording process. i'm with you on the feeling versus the mechanics of it all. recently i realized that i am not as cut out for the short stuff as i had thought. i tried, oh how i tried, to come up with some engaging 2-3 minute ideas, but even after a week of work on the stuff, i found that i am just better suited for the longer stuff, the 'epic' stuff. i love being able to spend that time to get a complete theme across.
until next time,
it's nice to know there are still Tangerine Dream listeners out there.
i'm still giddy over most of your songs. i actually spent a good chunk of the day yesterday with one of your melodies in my head. "Shamanic Dream". that's the kind of song that makes my day.
i love that flute!
it's nice to meet someone with the same affinity for long pieces, too!
i don't know what it is but a longer piece just feels right. you can get more of an idea across to the audience.
i am in absolute love with your pieces. if you ever have the chance to chat a little, i'd love to find out a little about your creative process.
cheers and nice to meet you!
