About Me:
in the zone
- - - - - - - - - -
my aim is not to create ambient music that is homogenous with the rest of the ambient world- to me, the goal is not to 'be like all the others', although there is lots of great ambient out there, and especially on AtmoWorks- artists I both like and respect- the aim of every artist should be to bring a unique blend, a style all their own, and I think my music succeeds in carrying my own stamp.

Somewhere In Between

I'm somewhere in between on the borders of the scene
In the corners of your consciousness you hide as though obscene
I'm the djinn escaped the lamp beaming light into your camp
In the corners of your mind is a feast on which I dined
There's a secret in the air, in the ocean it is there
For the moment is unfolding and the secret you are holding
Time to open up the Door, and find out what your life is for
The reason you are seeking look ahead to future peeking
No beginning and no end, Orobouros is… Continue

Speaking of artists who've joined this community that don't release on AtmoWorks- you know, some of us wouldn't mind an invitation to join the list of artists who do release on AtmoWorks (hint, hint) LOL...

I had to report someone a while back for starting 'discussions' which were purely bunk- full of links to herbal supplements, and other crap like that- it seems it was taken care of quickly after I reported it.. gosh, I don't even remember the guy's…

your comments were extremely interesting. i now want to try recording some on-the-fly midi events and editing them afterward. it makes total sense, yet i can't believe how long i've kind of avoided doing such.

it is starting to sound like this could have been the missing 'key' in making some of the music that i wanted to make, or at least in achieving some of the things i was after. much food for thought!

i think a collab would be a nice thing to do, if there is a way to perhaps grant the time that is required. i've attempted to do such in the past but it never quite came to fruition due to all the time constraints, schedules, etc.

as for the live vs. studio question. i suppose i am wondering how your process goes, since i've always understood ableton to be a sort of 'live' tool. i am probably wrong in that assumption, but at the same time, it would be really great to find that there IS actually a way to perform this kind of music live.

looking forward to your email!

that does it then! thanks for all your info on ableton and such. i recently acquired a fire-wire port but it just simply isn't compatible with my current computer setup. currently i use one of those oxygen keyboards by m-audio. it came with a trial of ableton (version 6 i think) so i will install that and give it a whirl.
do you use the same process to record as you do to play live?

also, i'm going to be streaming some audio sometime soon, and i plan on hosting a private server. so if you happen to ever need some storage, or access to what i end up storing on the server, let me know. i'll come up with some logins and all that. sadly, this project won't be done for about a month.

ableton, here i come!
