Profile Information

About Me:
Mark Tamea is an English composer living and working in The Netherlands. Active primarily with electro acoustics and field recordings, his recent output exploits atmosphere and juxtaposition to investigate what he imagines are the hidden parallels between the discernible and the esoteric. His influences include Joseph Beuys, Marcel DuChamp and Marc Rothko.

Much success with your new projects John, and it's good to know you'll still be in the area!
This is a lovely record, I can highly recommend it!
A nice multiband compressor, and a good EQ are great starting points. This is about all I use for mastering.
Thanks John! That's a great translation - gives it a whole new meaning! :-)

Interview on Dyscordia

I was recently probed by Discordia.nl about my musical influences and production theories. - and if you're interested in reading further, the text is available here:
http://www.dyscordia.nl/articles/44/verborgen_schoonheid.html

It's all in Dutch, but Bablefish makes (let's say) an 'interesting' job of translating it!

Greetings - Mark

Gonzo CD

'A Brain Shaped Hole Where A Head Used To Be' was included on the cover mounted CD 'Mind The Gap' - published by the Dutch music magazine, Gonzo Circus #90 (Jan '09) together with the following small review:

Translated from Dutch: 'The English musician Mark Tamea was selected to appear on the Gonzo 'Track 13' CD back in 2006. Now, the versatile Tamea mixes abstract electronica with modern classical music (chello, violin...) and makes regular use of his own field recordings from both rural envir… Continue

Not too familair with Marc Rothko honestly...yet BIG fan of Marcel DuChamp most certainly! I'm listening to your music sculptures right now...this is incredibly resonate with me. You are talented ...I am interested in what you do...does it border on profound? Yes... I think it would be even more so if I listened to it on some pricey headphones! So do you like painters? You paint well with word and sound my friend!

Check out Brian Howe here...he does "electro-poetics" which I am Xepering into now. I also like old classical radio plays..and new renditions of such...quite fond of Terry Prachet's "Witches of Wyrd" and all that shite.Once again...see you as a bit of a channeler/compilier/subroutine running ....macro/micro exchange unit. You are TOO COOL aye?

Stewart Copeland I believe did some field recording....Vir Unis has as well(on bike rides thru chi-town...out at Banner Marsh here in central Illinois) Anyway you look and sound like what intelligence looks and sounds like. Just the ramblings of another fan!

Mark - welcome! I just listened to three of your tracks (Behold, Odium, and Witch...) - and enjoyed them all. Interesting mix of microsound, field recording, and subtle sequencer stuff... very nice.
