Profile Information

About Me:: I've played music for most of my life. I started out playing flute-o-phone in third grade and eventually tenor saxophone in 5th grade. In middle school I played bass in a rock band and eventually gravitated toward the guitar which I still play today. In the late 1960s I heard some Edgar Varese music as well as Wendy Carlos' "Switched on Bach." From that point on I wanted to play synthesizers, but I couldn't afford one. Finally, about six years ago, I bought my first synth, a Waldorf Q rack. Like most of you, I didn't stop there. I formed a trio known as The Amaranth Signal which lasted about a year.

Another member of Amaranth, Michael Peck, and I formed a collaboration known as Mahoney and Peck. We have been performing together for about 4 years. We have played at several festivals and events such as The Gathering concert in Philadelphia. We have also performed live 3 times on Chuck van Zyl's Stars End radio show.

As of 2008 I have begun performing solo at venues such as City Skies and on www.stillstream.com. Some of my performances are archived there.

AtmoWorks on Stillstream.com

I listened to several hours of the Stillstream broadcast, and I really loved it. David Herpich did a great job selecting some fine tracks for all to listen. It was cool that the AtmoWorks folks were available in the Stillstream chat room. Throughout the broadcast there were about 95 people from around the world listening in.

Mahoney to Perform Live Internet Concert June 20

I will be performing at 8 pm eastern June 20 on Electro-Music.com radio. http://electro-music.com/radio/ My set will be 30 minutes. Besides myself, M. Peck will be performing after me. Its not good with anything external like any plugins or hardware (unless you use it as a slave) but has a lot in itself. Its pretty much a word document program for producers who just want to get an idea down straight away, simple and cheerful :D
