My new ambient label, is now online with a brand new release by Sonoprint. There are many more releases planned so by all means stop by and check it out, get on the email list, etc.
We are also actively taking submissions.
Cheers, mike @ Node.
I've been producing electronic music and synthesizing new sounds / scapes / schemas, what have you, for about 16 years. I first got into ambient and space music while in junior high school in the early 90's listening to a new age radio program out of St. Cloud, MN hosted by local state trooper Lloyd Achter (1940-2004). Lots of Ray Lynch, Tomita, Reich, Enya, Yanni, and others were listened to (despite my better judgement for some of them, thought I still indulge). I was also a big fan of PM Dawn and that early 90's UK sound.....still am.
From there I found hearts of space and I realized I just wanted to buy synthesizers. That led me to a lot abstract techno (labels like Analog, Synewave, Electric Music Foundation, Communique) and experimental electronic music.
Nowadays I collect old synthesizers and drum machines, build up my modular system, make sounds and rhythms, and play out about once or twice a month. My current obsessions are Vendetta Online, the 'Cryosleep' channel on http://www.blumars.org , and a dead Poly-Six if anyone is interested in helping me fix it (botched battery fix)
Aphex Twin: Selected Ambient Works Vol. 2 / Eno: Airports, Music for Films 3, or Plateaux of Mirror (for rocking out) / Neil Young: Harvest / Bonny Prince Billy: I See a Darkness / B12: Electro-Soma / and many more.
Favorite artist(s)?
Eno, Ani, Floyd, Young, B12, Aphex, Autechre, Buell Kazee, Heckadecimal, Linde, Alexander Greenway, Pixies, and more.
Are you a musician? What instrument do you play? Type of music?
I make ambient and techno music, using lots of analog stuff, no soft-synths, yet a lot of manipulation. I love synthesis an the textures it can produce.
On the acoustic side of the coin I play guitar and am learning claw-hammer style banjo.
