We live and breathe music.

Personally, I think DIsturbed Earth and Steve Brand know how to create some eye-openers when together. I think Vir Unis has the greatness to work with anybody I think...

From what I have heard so far, I would have to agree with you, both teams are amazing.
Also, I believe that any two great artists could be a team, if they put both their heart and soul into the music. Only difference with each team, is that the two artist combine their unique styles and make one amazing sound.

Keep teaming up and making amazing music! :)

The End.

miKroNaught rocks... It's Vir Unis + MjDawn

Yep - agree on Disturbed Earth and Steve Brand - they blend well together.

I always liked the Vir Unis and Saul Stokes combination.

Vidna Obmana + Steve Roach - Well of Souls especially.

I love it when two or more great artists get together and create chemistry resulting in an entirely new beast...they're great separately, but create something entirely new together. For me, that's a sign of real creativity and receptiveness, when one doesn't impose an aesthetic upon the other.

RIch/Roach's "Soma" and "Strata," or any of the Roach/VidnaObmana collaborations (for me it's "Cavern of Sirens" JKN), Rich/Lustmord's "Stalker," Roach/Metcalf or Roach/Stearns, of course Roach/Vir Unis, Vir Unis/Short's "Yellow House," Solar Fields/Aes Dana creating HUVA Network, Budd/Eno, Guthrie/Budd, Elf Machine/Föy, James Johnson/R.S. Thompson's "Forgotten Places," Johnson/Ma Ja Le's "Seed." I'm sure I'm leaving something out...

Great blog subject IMP! Thanks for the props, as well. My collaboration with Dean was completely effortless and the work is a testament to that. Still in the works, but I feel that folks will enjoy my collaboration with Ishq just as much as those with DE.

Vir Unis / James Johnson have a number of really nice collabs - and all their live playing and history together created some very nifty stuff - Perimeter especially.

Roach / Obmana - admittedly I could be confusing Well of Souls and Cavern of Sirens... they're both excellent!

Budd/Eno - Hassell/Eno - oh yeah - excellent.

Newt - which is a collab between Daniel Myer from Haujobb and Andreas Meyer of Forma Tadre... excellent.

I believe I typed "excellent" a few too many times.

Thank you Jenn. I very much appreciate the feedback. It's quite comforting to have someone understand the same point of view(s). Take care,

I have acquired a need to do some more listening from your insightful reply. Which I do appreciate very much. I have yet to open my ears and soul to Elf Machine and some of Vir Uni's latest work. I do not doubt your idea that any two artists can create something magnificent.
I believe firmly that your collaboration with the fantastic artists that thrive here will be fabled for making such radiant and soothing music shine. (If that makes any sense)

Keep making music!!!

Take care,
~Ian~

Vir Unis/James Johnson wins hands down for me. The Perimeter Series is just amazing work. After that, I'd probably go with Villius/Biggerson for H.U.V.A. Network and Eno/Lanois for "Apollo".

Eno and Budd.

Ironically... I'm listening to H.U.V.A. Network - Distances now.

Another favorite of mine is Datacide which is Tetsu Inoue and Uwe Schmidt (Atom Heart). The Datacide - Flowerhead album is definitely a favorite of mine.

I also very much enjoy the Pete Namlook / Richie Hawtin (Plastikman) - From Within series. Restrained.

David Sylvian and Robert Fripp have had some utterly amazing songs together through the years - as well as their First Day and Damage full lengths.

Ahh, you are very welcome, IMP! :)

If folks aren't familiar with "Forgotten Places" by RS Thompson and James Johnson, I've got to recommend it. For me, it was a hidden jewel. Johnson, on his own, creates wonderful, evocative, haunting melodies, and atmospheres, but combined with the equally poignant and spacious atmospheres and melodies that Thompson creates...wow. Utterly stunning. That sort of ability to create hints of melody with atmosphere which evoke strong emotional responses (which I suspect also unlock cellular and experiential memory) is a real gift IMO.
