How do you make your page fancy?

I've tried about 8 times to make my page awesome like everyone elses.

Easiest way is to use one of the defualt themes - there are a number to choose from.

- Go to your page.

- Beneath your picture is "Change My Photo or Theme" - click on theme

- Select a theme from the top - notice there are arrows and little circles at the top - click the arrows to browse through...
...note: if you keep clicking to the right - you'll find a huge number of "older" Ning themes that they've retired.. you can still use these.

- Once you see one you like - click on it

- scroll down and click 'save'... it takes about 30 seconds or so to finish...

- go back to your page and see if you like it.

If you want something more "custom"... find a default theme that's close to what you have in mind... and then play with the settings at the bottom.

Experiment! Worst that can happen is you'll have to back in and pick a default theme again... ;-)

As far as the overall "AtmoWorks theme" - it's still far from done. There's a lot of tweaking to do to customize it to be exactly what we want to see on the front page. For now - it's basically the default "urban tek" theme and I've removed the graphic...

Okay thanks!! I tried doing it before, I tried adding a picture to the background which didnt work, haha. :)
Im not sure why I write all these things in 'discussions', i keep forgetting i can just blog it.
By the way, do you know a site where I can find pro mark sticks in bulk for cheaper??? Im clueless (AGAIN!!!) haha

I've tinkered with background images - AtmoBot has a very bad one: http://atmoworks.ning.com/profile/atmobot

The images don't necessarily do what you'd expect them to - it really depends on what default theme you've picked and if there are special things going on in it. In order to do the new AtmoWorks main theme - we're digging into the code behind the themes (which I don't think you can do on your individual page...)

Sticks... I saw your thread on that... no - I really don't know where to send you. I bought a pair of sticks from zzounds.com - and I checked there for your 747's - but no bulk option. You may want to call someone like zzounds.com or guitarcenter and see if they can order a box at a discount. Not sure if they will or not.

Ahhh thats awesome!! I cant wait to see some new themes! You should like...collect pictures that the artists take and make each one into a theme, that would be fun, haha. So say, Dean takes a picture and you base a theme around that, you can call it "DisturbedEarth custom" or something. It sounds interesting I think, but probably a pain in the ass to create ALL those themes!!

Im clueless as to where to find sticks, I went onto ebay, too. I will try those sites or call around, thanks!!
Ask some of your drummer friends, too, im sure they will know!! :) pretty please!! hahaha

I think it's a matter of trial and error - try various pictures in the different options until you find one that does what you want or you find one that does something you were not expecting but like...

Or check the sizes of the image space and cut something down to size so it fits....
