AtmoWorks

We live and breathe music.

AtmoWorks will be releasing a compilation album this summer of 2009. The project is in currently in the embyronic stage and nothing has been started as of yet. We'd like to open this project to anyone and everyone. We'll take submissions up to April 1st, 2009, pretty much starting now.

We're looking for new artists we've never heard of as well as ones that are current AtmoWorks artists or others that are established. Once all the submissions have been received we'll go through them and pick out what fits the best. If we have a lot of really good material we may do it as a double album release or perhaps even in a series of releases. We've noticed a lot of our members on AtmoWorks are artists and very talented as well, so we'd like to tap this potential we have and get your voices heard.

More chatter on this coming soon as well as info on how to submit your compositions.

Cheers,

Vir Unis

I'll set up an ftp site for submissions (if you're comfortable with ftp!). If you want to sendfile a submission to us, that will also work. Or, if you have space on your website - we can pick them up from there.

We'd prefer not to receive discs.

I've created a group for the compilation. Just click on the "compilation" link in the top menu and ask to be invited to the group.

We'll post the ftp login info and other details in the group.

This group is open to everyone that wishes to submit a track.

We're still figuring this all out, of course... but I kind of see a nice mix of ambient and non-ambient stuff - so don't hold back thinking you have to submit ambient music (we have several artists who really aren't all that ambient already... and I'd love to get a few more releasing!). Maybe there will be a couple of compilations? One featuring more 'ambient' stuff - and one featuring more techno / idm / experimental stuff. Maybe we'll throw them all in a mixing bowl and mix ambient beatless, ambient techno, and some closer to danceable stuff?

Anyway - don't be shy! Join the "compilation" group!

John

No theme, as of yet. Since this is a group activity, how about anyone who is interested throw in some ideas?

Being a self-confessed Sci-Fi geek, I thought maybe basing it around the themes & visuals of Sci-Fi films & books like Solaris (The Tarkovsky version not the crappy remake!), Alien & John Carpenter's "The Thing". To me those films have always has a great sound element to them as well as a visual one.

This sounds great, would love to take part, will keep my eyes open for updates etc

We could think of "imaginary music for real films"....

Like what we would do if we were to rewrite the soundtrack to films of the past we love.

Yeah, I like this as well. I'm thinking about us all doing a series of albums, a sequence of imagined music for films of the past. We're all film buffs I'm sure, or at least a lot of us are I know, so we could think of up all sorts of films, or even a combination of films in a mash up....-:)
