Front page changes - blogs, forum, events, etc...
We've been playing around with how to arrange the front page of the site recently:
Latest Activity - this seems to be the best way to see what people have been doing across the site - whether it's blogs, forums, photos, music, videos, or who's new to the site- this is the place to look. So we moved it to front and center to make it easy to see what's happening.
Blogs - To de-clutter slightly, I pulled the blog list off the front page. There's now a menu item across the top called "blogs" - click on that to get a great list of all recent blog posts. It's a lot nicer than the front page listing because it lists not only the most recent - but the most popular and archives by date and tags. Thanks to Jeff at the NetNewMusic community for the idea to link blogs in the menu.
Forum - I also pulled the forum list off the front page. Just click on 'forum' in the menu to get to that section. Since any new posts for Forums (or blogs or music or...) go into the "latest activity" feed - dropping this from the front page shouldn't pose too much of a problem - and it might be easier to get to where you want to be on the forum by going to the special section.
Events - We've started posting all of our planned releases in the events calendar which appears on the front page (and also appears in an easier to read form by clicking on 'events' in the menu at the top of the site). We'll also be listing any concerts or important events... you can add an event!
