In the car I'm listening to the absolutely brilliant Datacide - Flowerhead album - which is Uwe Schmidt (Atmo Heart) and Tetsu Inoue. Utterly freaking brilliant - I love this album. The perfect blend of atmospherics, digital glitchery, and minimal drums/rhythm.
At work I'm spinning the Seren Ffordd - Veils, Shadows album from Hypnos Secret Sounds... this is a deep atmospheric beatless work. Gorgeous backdrop to work... recommended if you like beatless drone.
Squarepusher - Feed Me Weird Things - the mixture of frenetic drum programming and bass playing - music styles - it's simply an amazing album.
Wonderstuff - Never Loved Elvis - always enjoyable. great quirky lyrics.
I heard the new Nine Inch Nails - Discipline single on the radio. It's ok. Sounds like I've heard it a few times before over the years. I love a ton of nin stuff - but this track seems to fall a bit flat in the been there done that department... oh well...
next up:
Vir Unis / Disturbed Earth - Drawn from the Well
Disturbed Earth - Butterfly
I finally remembered to bring these albums to work with me so I could absorb them in my phones while working. Both should be out on Atmoworks sometime in the next few months. :)
Just got the new Death Cab for Cutie. Not bad on first listen. Their single 'I Will Possess Your Heart; kinda drew me in. I like their arrangements and his vocal style for sure.
Milieu - A Warm Wooden Hollow [infraction 2008]
Chris Squire - Fish Out Of Water [1975]
Stephan Mathieu - Radioland [2008]
Marconi Union - Distance [2005?] - what ever happened to these guys? this is a great cd, wish there were more after it.
this weekend - Trial - "Moments of Collapse" - Renaldo and the Loaf "Songs for Swinging Larvae" - and some random Rammstein burned CD that had lots of great danceable tracks on it.
jacaszek - treny - a beautiful, melancholy semi-classical album from the Miasmah label. Atlas Sound - Let the Blind Lead Those Who Can See But Cannot Feel - described on the Hytpnos forum as "bedroom, ambient pop". Good stuff. Brael And Tokyo Bloodworm - Living Languages - nice acoustic/electronic stuff
