Instead of working on some new stuff, I've been doing "research". One of my work-mates has given me a HUGE batch of CDs to put on his iPod (A truly evil device), he has a very wide taste in music & it has taken me some time to go through them all. This is what I heard today while slaving over a hot grill at work:

Public Enemy-Fear of a Black Planet
Iron Maiden-Somewhere in Time
Slayer-Christ Illusion
Marc Bolan-Acoustic Warrior

Well - I just bought an iPod... I'm definitely a long time holdout on not owning one and finally do. I just keep shoving cd's into my computer and letting them rip. Fun stuff. Best thing for me is no longer needing to lug around cases of cd's. At one point I had over 600 cd's at work (I kept them locked up in the server room).

np: Namlook/Hawtin - From Within 1

p.s. I've played that Public Enemy album to death... ;-)

I'm listening to Modern English - After The Snow - which is one of my favorite albums. I've got it on vinyl and I've mostly listened to it dubbed on cassette since about 1987... so I bought it on iTunes...

and one of the songs has changed! Drastically cut and mixed totally differently. There's about 6 extra songs and it's on there a 2nd time - so hopefully that's the version I remember and love so well.

It's interesting you mentioned the snow. Along with the U.P. getting a bunch of snow, which I believe is normal, "The Snow" by coil has been going through my head. It's the only song by Coil of which I have seen the video, on MTV back in the day.

It was kinda weird... I had this cheap fountain next to my bed which I used for a little background noise. The whine of the small battery powered motor kept interacting with some frequencies from the CD and and creating this null, which really hurt my ears!
I turned it off and threw out the fountain the next morning.
I noticed that the fountain had one of those "Made in China" stamps on it. It's too bad because the plastic mold that was employed was really nice, and it was the perfect size.

oddly - I can't place Coil's The Snow in my head right now. Since I have their stuff mosly on vinyl - I haven't heard it in years.

np: banco de gaia - last train to lhasa

was: cabaret voltaire - the conversation (disc 2)
and: cocteau twins - love's easy tears and sunburst and snowblind e.p.'s

Yeah, Coil's "The Snow" is a old song.

Speaking of Cabaret Voltaire, I have been listening to a bunch of Richard H Kirk / Pat Riot / Sandoz from 2006. Good bleepy stuff.

A Produce / M Griffin - Altara

Not really sure about A Produce, I just remember seeing him listed in the old paper Soleilmoon catalogs, back in the day. Thought he would be really dark, but this album is beautiful to me and a bit spacey, for lack of a better word.
