radiohead - amnesiac - pyramid song always worth the price of admission. not their most cohesive album though from start to finish - although wasn't it more of a b-sides/afterthought thing anyway from kid a - so maybe cohesiveness wasn't a goal.
vir unis - aeonian glow - gorgeous drifty ambient goodness from Mr. Unis.
depeche mode - a broken frame - one of my favorite dm albums... the one after vince clarke left and dm opted not to take any of vince's offered tracks (he later took them on to yazoo...) - and before alan wilder joined. a much more somber quiet dm - some real gems on here as they found the beginnings of their non-clarke sound and started to evolve over the next decade.
plastikman - artifakts b.c. - i still find consumed to be the very best, deep murky foggy minimal techno - perfect for those dark nights. but artifakts is close - maybe a bit less reverb - it's a definite tone down from musik (and certainly from sheet one!). i like closer now - but it took a long time to grow on me.
pixies - come on pilgrim - you just can't beat this raw e.p.
This morning I'm listening to Jonathan Hughes - Trillium - this album grew on me so much it's become one of my all time favorite ambient albums. I find his music very inspiring.
I want to put in a plug for my long term friend (went to school in Jr. High and High School together) Adam Schabtach, co-owner of AudioDamage. I have been recently listening to his amazing ambient CD entitled "Elephant Island" and it wreaks of Brian Eno influence!! Adam's Webpage: http://www.studionebula.com
I'm familiar with AudioDamage - at least one of them (and I think it was Adam - it's been awhile!) used to post to some modular synth forums I frequented a while back. Nifty plugins they make.
