Telefon Tel Aviv: Fahrenheit Fair Enough - just an absolutely gorgeous album that's sat ignored in my iTunes for far too long.

the caretaker - persistent repetition of phrases - kind of creepy ambient, or as boomkat.com calls it - modern classical. creepy with out being oppressively dark.
Stars of the Lid - Carte-de-Visite - their tour cd which may still be available at kranky, a must have for SOTL fans.
lilienthal - lilienthal [1978] - keautrock goodness from folks such as Asmus Tietchens, Konrad Plank and Dieter Moebius.

"The Best of Radiohead" Radiohead - I bought this for my partner, but I find I'm listening to it more than she is. Quite a comprehensive collection for the Radiohead beginner and a convenient one stop shop for the more familiar fan...

Today's listening...

Parallel Worlds - Obsessive Surrealism - excellent electronic album with a ton of moodiness. Blends ambient with em/sequencer with bits of soundtrack. Bakis knows his instruments (and if you've never seen his studio - holy cow - modular heaven!) Very nice guy as well. Released on DiN.

The Winterhouse - Slow Promises - collab between APK (probably best known as The Circular Ruins and owner of the dataObscura and Blue Oasis labels - former co-owner of Databloem) - and Robert Davies. This is also an excellent album - as just about everything APK touches is... I'm not familiar with Davies solo work - but I probably should be... :) Released on Blue Oasis.

Steve Roach - Immersion One - my first listen today to about half of it. Haven't really absorbed it yet - but it worked well in the background at work... :)

I've also been listening to the upcoming AtmoWorks releases in the next few weeks... Vir Unis / Disturbed Earth, Jonathan Hughes, Steve Brand, Igneous Flame/Achromus, Exuviae, Paul Vnuk... all great (or else why would we release it?!).

:)

Due to it coming up in discussions on the site - had to pull out

Ashera - Colour Glow

and give it a spin.

also: Basic Channel - CD - I just noticed a new 2nd cd has been released by BC... only 13 years later. Full length versions of several of the classic BC 12" releases (where the cd release from '95 has edits...)

also: Richie Hawtin - Orange - a short 17 minute ep "derived from Yello" - lots of samples from Yello tracks. I'd rate this as an 'ok' release - not bad to listen to, but not worth going out of your way for unless you're a die hard Hawtin fan.

At the moment...

Holy Ghost - The Mind Control of Candy Jones - techno from Tresor - straight up stuff - it's ok.

Speedy J - A Shocking Hobby - a definite favorite of mine - ambient meets autechre meets techno meets crushing drums

Basic Channel - CD - collection of minimal techno/dub from the classic Basic Channel label - around '95.

Richie Hawtin / Sven Vath - Sound of the 3rd Season - or is it 2nd season? no matter. It's another in the ok category. Hawtin in his Plastikman and Concept mode is a lot better than this - but this dj set isn't necessarily bad.

Yes - I'm in the mood for repetitive techno today...

Days to Come by BONOBO!!!! He's got a bit of the cinematic orchestra sound.

on the ninja tunes label. I can't describe his style, definately a bit of the 60s jazz influence in there, very retro sort of sound. See what u guys make of it.
