We live and breathe music.

Just a general blanket statement that Eddie cracks me up to no end. Just popped in "Glorious" - and well... it's glorious. "Dressed to Kill" is nearly perfect.

cake or death?

cake please.

Eddie is a wonderful comedian. I don't remember the name of his performance, but the one where he is in drag going through some British history cracked me up.

"Dressed to Kill" is perfect!

Oh, all right.

Lucky for you I'm Church of England...

Mark - dressed in drag and history are pretty much Eddie's trademark. :) He's an executive transvestite!

You probably saw Dressed to Kill though. He won a couple of emmy's for that special.

Englebert Humperdink!

=== quote ===

"13. Engelbert and JFK

And Engelbert Humperdinck! Yes, he was the man. That's not his real name; he's from Britain, but that's not his name. There's very few Humperdincks in Britain. He was born Gerry Dorsey, not Engelbert Humperdinck. His parents were not Mr. and Mrs. Humperdinck. They never said,

"What shall we call our son so he does not get the shit kicked out of him at school?"

“We shall call him Engelbert!"

"Good, that'll work!"

No, his name was Gerry Dorsey, and he released songs as Gerry Dorsey, songs such as ( mumbles )which didn't work ‘cause nobody could hear what he was saying. And then his managers, obviously, said, "We're going to change your name, Gerry! It's the name that's the problem." And his name changed from Gerry Dorsey to Engelbert Humperdinck. I mean, I just wanted to be in the room when they were working that one through.

"Zingelbert Bembledack! Yingybert Dambleban! Zangelbert Bingledack! Wingelbert Humptyback! Slut Bunwalla!"

"What?!"

"All right, Kringelbert Fishtybuns! Steviebuns Bottrittrundle..."

"No, Gerry Dorsey, I like Gerry Dorsey!"

"No, we can't do it... Who we got? Zingelbert Bembledack, Tringelbert Wangledack, Slut Bunwalla, Klingybun Fistelvase, Dindlebert Zindledack, Gerry Dorsey, Engelbert Humptyback, Zengelbert Bingledack, Engelbert Humperdinck, Vingelbert Wingledanck…"

"No, no, go back one. Go back one. "Engelbert Humperdinck." That's it."

This is quite simply the funniest man alive. If you have any doubt, just listen to the "Death Star Canteen" bit from "Circle". Anyone not laughing their head off at the end is simply not alive.

"I'll have the Penne Ariabiatta, please"

"You'll need a tray...."

Priceless.

.......for I will hack at your neck with the thin bit......

Do you have a flag?

"We don't need a bloody flag! It's our country, you bastards!"

No flag, no country. Those are the rules...that I've just made up.

I abosolutely love Eddie Izzrard! I saw the one you speak of Mark with the British history...yet as far as him being in Drag...9 times out of 10 he is because he is a transvestite comedian.(although I have seen him out of drag,I have come to like him better in it!) They have alot of his shows on YOUTUBE I watch from time to time...here's the one I believe your talking about...

Yeah...that's the one I first saw...then I started looking more into him on the internet.

I was in Los Angeles awhile ago, and saw a city bus with some new film advertised on the side of it(or tv show?) with a bunch of people standing along side each other with super long noses! I'll see if I can remember what it is!! Anybody know?Anyway... one of the long noses was Eddie Izzard....

We just bought every one of the DVD's he's ever made! I especially loved him in "Dressed to Kill," because of his more gregarious make-up/clothing. I don't know if anyone saw "Across the Universe" but he plays "Mr. Kite." Jeezy Creezy, he's the funniest man I've ever known, too.

Eddie Izzard, total greatness. I had three of his DVDs on repeat while I remodeled my basement. My favorite is in Dressed to Kill when he runs through a condensed version of his routine in French near the end. That, and describing how dull most English movies are are the best. "What is it? I'm arranging matches."

Jim - Eddie is starring in a tv drama on the FX network with Minnie Driver called "The Riches". It's very good - Heidi and I love it. We've watched half of the first season so far. It's been renewed for a 2nd season. While Eddie drops into some of his stand up bits from time to time - it's definitely not a comedy. They play con artists 'stealing the american dream'. Eddie's accent he just can't hide and they really shouldn't have tried to make him be American... :)

Andi - I have four of his stand-up dvd's - I know of one other one easy to get that I'll order at some point soon. I think the 'Sexie' dvd is region 2 only - as his his first one (title escaping me at the moment).
