I did not know you can get soundproof computer cases...

rather than spend £125 - £250 on expensive equipment I have spent £26.
2 plastic buckets cut in half, handles removed, rim trimmed. Computer foam for back and bottom. Acoustic foam (egg box style) for inside behind the microphone. Hole in bottom to affix to Mic stand...just waiting for acoustic foam to arrive to finish them off....

The new mics are condensers and when trim is up enough to pick up some of the quiet sounds I want they also get the fan noise. hopefully these will cut that down a lot.

I'm always haunted by my fan. Instead of a case, I'm considering investing in long cords for everything. Ill stuff that loud bastard in the closet, and record quiet sounds in peace..

For me:
Today - I managed to get round a difficult situation at work so no I did not look a complete plonker,...

and positively, I managed to order single tiles of acoustic foam to use in making a sound barrier for my new microphones so they don't pick up the sound of my studio hard drive.
